The
Chaplaincy was set up in 1980 by the Church Mission Society (CMS) with the
support of the Church of Nigeria and the Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian
Christians. It was established to cater for the spiritual, social and welfare
needs of Nigerians in this country and to assist local churches to reach out to
and receive Nigerians.
Until now the Chaplaincy has had no centre from
which to carry out its activities. However, thanks to the generosity of St
Marylebone Parish Church the Chaplaincy is being provided with a fully furnished
office with internet access and the opportunity to use the community facilities
of this magnificent building set in the heart of Central London.
This
will enable the Chaplaincy to expand the range and extent of its
activities.
