CHAPLAINCY CENTRE
The Chaplaincy now has a fully furnished office with Internet access and the opportunity to use the community facilities of this magnificent building set in the heart of Central London, thanks to the generosity of St Marylebone Parish Church. This will enable the Chaplaincy to expand the range and remit of its activities, having previously had no centre from which to carry out its activities.

The Chaplaincy was set up in 1980 by the Church Mission Society (CMS) with the support of the Church of Nigeria and the Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians (OFNC). It was established to cater for the spiritual, social and welfare needs of Nigerians in the UK and to assist local churches to reach out to and receive Nigerians.

Through God’s faithfulness, and sponsorship of the founding bodies above, the Chaplaincy has impacted many lives – especially students. It has also facilitated improved linkage between the Church of Nigeria and the Anglican Communion in the UK. The Chaplaincy has provided an official platform of support for Christian and non-Christian Nigerians, and is recognised in official circles for facilitating their spiritual and social wellbeing.

The Chaplaincy has witnessed 28 years of positive ministry spanning the tenure of three successive Chaplains; Rt Rev Ken Okeke, now Bishop on the Niger, Onitsha, Rt Rev Jacob Ajetumobi, now Bishop of Ibadan South, and Rev Canon Ben Enwuchola, the current chaplain, who is assisted by Rev Precious Omuku on part-time basis. The Nigerian Chaplaincy works in partnership with OFNC in carrying out its major activities.
